Public Vegetable Garden

While designing the garden of The Blue House Luijters was not interested in the aesthetic of gardening or the look of the combination of plants.



For The Blue House he developed a garden that first of all is an empty space in an urban environment and that can be used by both the in habitants of the house and the rest of Block 35 (the housing block where The Blue House is situated). All of the 60-diferent plants in the garden can be eaten or produces something that can be eaten. Even the beautiful flowers taste fantastic in a salad. Inhabitants of IJburg share in the harvest, help to keeping it in shape and also suggest particular plants to be planted.
