Radio maker (Netherlands, lives and works in Amsterdam)

Radiokunstenaar en media-activist Jo van der Spek heeft de hele wereld over gereisd en lanceert nu vanuit Het Blauwe Huis Radio Ruisriet als stroom van verhalen en intimiteiten. Het vertrekpunt is dat leven bewegen is en migratie het lot van elk mens. Elke vrijdag van 19.00 tot 22.00 uur is er open inloop in de radiostudio op de begane grond van Het Blauwe Huis. Bewoners, migranten en anderen kunnen langskomen en aanschuiven. Er is muziek en alles wat je zegt kan voor en tegen je gebruikt worden. Bij Radio Ruisriet kunnen onverstaanbare talen worden gesproken! De zender is vernoemd naar de laatste halte van tram 26: Ruisrietstraat. Riet is de oorspronkelijke bewoner van IJburg, ruis is het geluid van de wind, de leegte, de afstand. Daarnaast is hij met Cheikh ‘Papa’ Sakho een van de drijven de krachten achter de campagne 'Vertrokken Gezichten'.
